A familiar design, reimagined
Material 3 is a custom theme for Better Lyrics, bringing Google’s Material 3 design language to YouTube Music.
The idea was simple: create an interface that feels modern, expressive, and comfortable to use without getting in the way of the music. Inspired by Material You, the theme combines a dark interface with vibrant accents, rounded typography, and carefully considered visual details.
Rather than overwhelming the interface with unnecessary elements, the design keeps the focus where it belongs: on the music and its lyrics.
Designed around the details
Every element is designed to feel cohesive with the Material 3 aesthetic.
- Expressive dark interface: A dark foundation complemented by colorful accents.
- Google Sans Flex (Rounded): Rounded typography for a softer, more approachable appearance.
- Dynamic color styling: A Material You-inspired approach to colors and visual hierarchy.
- Expressive loading indicator: Replaces the default spinner with a custom Material 3 Expressive loading animation.
- Minimal layout: Keeps lyrics readable and the overall experience uncluttered.
Take a look
The theme extends beyond the lyrics screen, bringing a consistent visual identity throughout YouTube Music.
